It is your responsibility to read and follow the policies and procedures contained
in this orientation one time each school year. After completing the orientation,
you should know:
Each student has a $10 print credit per term on their account.
Additional
credit may be purchased online or in the Business Office. More
information about printing
costs.
Computer stations are available in all computer labs on
a first come first serve basis. Students who do not require these
accommodations may be asked to
surrender the workstation at the request of an at-need student. Ask staff
for assistance.
Copying software installed on workstations is prohibited by Federal
Copyright law and the Code
of Student Conduct.
Lab Technicians will assist with problems; do no plug in, remove, unplug, or modify
software or lab equipment.
Acceptable Conduct in Lab Areas
Set pagers and cell phones on silent or vibrate mode and step outside of
lab to talk.
Help maintain an atmosphere for learning; keep conversation and groups
to an absolute minimum.
Students are expected to maintain a professional manner both in class sessions and during open lab hours.
No food or drink is allowed in the labs.
No animals shall be permitted on school premises.
Clean and neat personal hygene is required. Don't be a parasite to others.
Do not download or view any illegal content or software on PCC computers.
Clean up your workstation, push in your chair and turn off computer before you leave.
Protect your Work! Save Often!
Protect your work by saving to the Student Projects folder on the Student HD.
Back up your work by frequently saving files onto a removable storage device.
Desktop and Documents
folder are deleted when you log off or when the computer shuts down to protect
your privacy.
All workstations in the computer labs accept USB drives and CD R
/ RW disks which are sold in most retail stores and at PCC campus Bookstores
Save your work often. Unexpected power or network outages may cause the loss
of any unsaved work!
Pick up any documents you print within 10 minutes of
sending to the printer.
Lab Technicians will assist with questions or problems.
Protect Your Printing Account by Logging Off Correctly
Be sure to log out of the "Go Print" program before leaving your workstation.
Turn off computer before you leave.

The open lab times are posted on the billboard outside of the computer labs and
online at www.pccmm.com.
PCC Lab Technicians
An "on duty" Lab Technician may be identified as someone who is
wearing a BLUE vest.
Lab Technicians:
Provide student login information
Assist with equipment and other computer lab resources
Assist with questions and problems on a first-come first-serve basis
Assist with application access, saving, retrieving, and printing issues
Troubleshoot workstations hardware and software problems
Lab Technicians are not:
Application tutors
Teaching assistants
Liable for saving your work or property left behind.
